This cam performs well in marine and street applications. The 112° Lobe Separation is often used in marine applications due to their "wet exhaust" system, it prevents the water in the exhaust from getting into the engine. As the possibility of water in the intake is reduced, so are exhaust gasses. This is called "reversion".
Why should you care? Chances are you want more precise fuel control, throttle response and efficiency. Here are some other benefits of reduced "reversion":
Broader Powerband: A 112 LSA tends to offer a more balanced power delivery across the RPM range, great for street-driven cars where you want a good mix of low-end torque and top-end power.
Improved Vacuum: Offers better idle vacuum than camshafts with tighter LSAs (like 108 or 110). This characteristic makes it suitable for engines that rely on vacuum-driven accessories, like power brakes. More vacuum typically leads to smoother idles.
Smoother Idle: In performance street engines, this can make the vehicle more pleasant to drive in stop-and-go traffic or at lower RPMs, without sacrificing too much performance at higher RPMs.
Better Emissions and Fuel Economy: The reduced valve overlap helps with emissions control and fuel economy, which might be important if you're building a car for the street and need to meet certain environmental regulations.
