Welcome to Skip White Performance! We're a leading name in high-performance engine building, proudly located in Kingsport, TN. However, we'd like to clear up some confusion: We are Skip White Performance—not to be mistaken for White Performance and Machine, a completely separate entity with no affiliation to us.

A Little Background

The similarity in our names has led many customers to mix us up, especially when searching online. But let’s set the record straight: We are not the same company, and our paths diverged years ago. Here’s our story:

We acquired White Performance in 2003, excluding the machine shop, which was then owned and operated by Fred White. While Fred continued to build engines for us, our business quickly expanded. Due to disagreements on the engine and head building process and limitations in production, we decided to establish our own full-scale machine shop.

Growth and Expansion

As our reputation grew, so did our operations. By 2011, we opened a second, much larger warehouse and machine shop on Brookside Ln. in Kingsport, TN. With dedication and passion, we've become the #1 street rod engine builder in the nation.

Fred White sold his shop to an investor in 2016, who continues to operate under the White Performance & Machine name. Despite their claims of being "in business since 1979," it’s important to note that we’ve been the driving force behind White Performance since 2003. Fred White is no longer involved with that company.

Setting the Record Straight

Unfortunately, the confusion between our company and White Performance & Machine has led to some undeserved negative feedback. Customers have mistakenly attributed delays and issues to us when, in fact, they dealt with the other company. We want to reassure our community that our reputation remains near-perfect, and we continue to serve our customers with the utmost integrity.
